Interstate State Park
Perched on the St. Croix River near Taylors Falls, this compact park delivers big scenery with towering basalt cliffs and the narrow Dalles gorge. The campground has 37 sites spread across wooded loops, most suitable for smaller rigs due to tight turns and mature trees. Vault toilets and water spigots throughout, but no hookups or dump station. Gets busy on summer weekends with Twin Cities crowds.
Access is straightforward off Highway 8, paved roads throughout. Open year-round but water is shut off October through April. The real draw is the geology — glacial potholes and dramatic river views make this worth the stop even if just passing through on the way to northern Wisconsin trails.
