Vedauwoo sits in the Medicine Bow National Forest with towering granite outcrops that look like they belong in Joshua Tree. The established campground has 28 sites scattered among the boulders, each with picnic tables and fire rings. It’s popular with rock climbers and can fill up on weekends, but midweek you’ll find solitude among the weathered formations.
Access is easy off I-80 at Exit 329, just a few miles on paved roads. The area stays open year-round but water is shut off in winter. Roads can be icy from November through March. Cell service is spotty at best — plan on being disconnected.
