Orestimba Creek Trailhead
Orestimba Creek Trailhead serves as a gateway to the 11,000-acre Orestimba Wilderness, one of the least-visited wilderness areas in California. A small dirt parking area accommodates 4-6 vehicles, with trails leading into rugged canyons filled with blue oaks and seasonal creeks. Wildlife viewing is excellent, with chances to spot wild boar, deer, and various raptors.
Access requires driving about 25 miles on increasingly rough dirt roads from the nearest pavement. High-clearance 4WD is essential, and the final approach can be tricky to navigate without good maps. No facilities whatsoever—bring everything you need including water. Spring offers the best hiking conditions with flowing creeks and wildflowers.
