This graceful concrete arch bridge is the postcard shot of Big Sur, stretching 714 feet across a deep canyon where Bixby Creek meets the Pacific. Built in 1932, it stands 280 feet above the creek below and offers stunning views both from the bridge deck and from pullouts on either side. The north side has better parking and classic angles looking south toward the bridge with the coastline beyond.
Parking fills up fast during peak tourist season, especially weekends. Early morning or late afternoon provides the best light and fewer crowds. Watch for fog, which can roll in quickly and obscure the view entirely. The pullout areas are small and right off Highway 1, so be cautious of traffic when getting photos.
