Taylor Park offers some of Colorado’s most accessible high-altitude dispersed camping, with numerous sites scattered across this broad valley at 9,500 feet. Sites range from riverside spots along Taylor River to elevated meadow camps with mountain views. Most accommodate multiple vehicles and are popular with hunters, fishermen, and overlanders.
Access via Taylor Park Road (County Road 742) from Almont or Gunnison. The main valley road is suitable for any vehicle, though many of the best dispersed sites require short spurs better suited to high-clearance vehicles. Open roughly June through October. Can get crowded during hunting season in September and October.
