The western approach to Cottonwood Pass offers numerous pullouts and informal camping areas between Taylor Park and the pass summit at 12,126 feet. Sites range from large meadow spots suitable for groups to intimate alcoves tucked against stands of aspen and spruce. Most have basic fire rings and can accommodate RVs and trailers on the lower elevations. Views stretch across Taylor Park to the Collegiate Peaks.
Road is typically open from late May through October, weather permitting. The pass itself may close due to snow, but lower elevation sites remain accessible longer. Popular area during fall aspen season and hunting seasons. No facilities, but Taylor Park Trading Post provides supplies about 10 miles south.
