Hieroglyphic Trail Dispersed Area

Desert camping near the Superstition Mountains with petroglyphs nearby and stunning views of the Goldfield range.

Located in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains, this dispersed area offers dramatic desert camping with towering saguaros and excellent views of the surrounding peaks. Sites are scattered among granite boulders and desert washes, with some natural windbreaks and privacy. The nearby Hieroglyphic Trail makes this popular with hikers, especially on weekends, but weekday camping is generally peaceful.

Access road is rough dirt requiring high-clearance, with the last mile getting increasingly rocky. Sites fill up during cooler months when Phoenix snowbirds arrive. Fire restrictions often apply March through June. The area can flash flood during monsoon season, so avoid camping in obvious washes.
