Saguenay National Park and Preserve

Arizona's iconic desert preserve showcasing massive saguaro cacti in their natural Sonoran Desert habitat.

This sprawling desert preserve protects the world’s most recognizable cactus ecosystem, where ancient saguaros tower up to 40 feet tall across rolling bajadas and desert washes. The park spans two districts — Tucson Mountain to the west and Rincon Mountain to the east — with scenic drives accessible by any vehicle and backcountry roads requiring high-clearance. Peak blooms hit April-May, while winter offers ideal hiking temps.

Access via Kinney Road (west) or Old Spanish Trail (east) from Tucson. Summer heat makes this a dawn-and-dusk destination, with temps hitting 110°F+ June through September. Several established trails and scenic drives make this a must-stop for overlanders running southern Arizona routes.
