The trailhead sits right off the Icefields Parkway with paved parking for about 30 vehicles, though it overflows quickly during peak season. Multiple viewing platforms offer different perspectives of the falls, where the Athabasca River crashes through quartzite and limestone formations carved over thousands of years. The main viewpoint requires just a 5-minute walk on paved trail, while longer paths lead to additional overlooks and the old Athabasca Pass route.
This is one of the busiest stops on the Icefields Parkway, so early morning or late evening visits offer better chances for photos without crowds. The falls run year-round but are most impressive during spring runoff in May and June. Winter access is possible but requires ice cleats for the viewing platforms.
