Okaukuejo Rest Camp Campsite — Etosha National Park
Okaukuejo is the administrative heart of Etosha National Park in northern Namibia and has a campsite on the grounds. The big draw is the waterhole at the edge of camp. After sunset it’s lit, and you can sit on the wall and watch black rhino, elephants, hyena and the occasional lion come in to drink. Camp facilities include ablutions with showers, shade trees and power at some sites. It’s a good mid-trip stop on a self-drive Etosha loop, and a good place to resupply on the park’s reliable infrastructure.
Roads inside Etosha are gravel or tar, and a standard high-clearance 2WD handles them fine. Dry season, roughly May to October, concentrates the game at waterholes. Park gates open and close around sunrise and sunset, and the rules are strict about being in camp by closing time. Etosha entry fees apply on top of camp fees, and the camp is run by Namibia Wildlife Resorts, so book ahead for peak months and verify pricing on their site. Have a dirty day.
