Iférouane Campement Touristique — Aïr Massif Northern Gateway Campground
Iférouane is the principal northern gateway town into the Aïr Massif and the Piste de l’Aïr corridor toward Timia. The campement here — run historically through local tourism cooperatives and guesthouse operators — provides a walled compound with basic shade structures, cleared sandy pitches, and access to well water. It’s a working overland stop, not a resort: expect desert dust, a handful of other expedition rigs, and Tuareg guides negotiating logistics in the courtyard. Capacity is loose — a half-dozen vehicles fit comfortably before it gets crowded. Evenings around the fire pit are the kind of thing you tell stories about later.
Access is via the piste north from Agadez — roughly 200 km of graded and ungraded desert track requiring 4WD. The town itself has a small market and occasional fuel availability (jerry cans, verify ahead). Security conditions in the Aïr have been volatile — check current advisories with the Agadez regional authority and your embassy before committing. This campement has historically required gendarmerie registration on arrival.
Last real stop before the Aïr swallows you.
