Tizi n’Tacht — Anti-Atlas High Pass Above the Souss Plain
Tizi n’Tacht sits on the northern edge of the Anti-Atlas range, where the piste drops hard off the plateau and the Souss Plain spreads out below you like a brown canvas all the way to Taroudant. At roughly 1,700 metres, the pass marks the transition between the agricultural lowlands and the volcanic high country of the Siroua massif — it’s the moment the road gets serious. Argan trees give way to bare rock, and the air sharpens. Berber villages cling to the slopes above and below. This is the kind of viewpoint that stops rigs dead in their tracks.
Access is via piste from the Taliouine side or via the northern approach from the Souss Valley. The track is passable for competent high-clearance vehicles in dry conditions; after rain the clay sections turn greasy. No services here — fuel up in Taliouine before heading into this country. Best in autumn and spring when visibility is clear and the heat is manageable.
