Torra Bay Campsite — Skeleton Coast National Park

Torra Bay is a seasonal government-run campsite inside the Skeleton Coast National Park, open December through January for the Namibian summer holiday rush. The rest of the year it’s locked up tight. Expect basic ablution blocks, braai stands, and a handful of sandy pitches right on the beach. The Benguela Current keeps it cool and foggy even in peak summer — this isn’t a tropical beach holiday. It’s a fishing camp with serious overland bones, used by anglers chasing kob and geelbek and by 4WD crews running the park’s coastal corridor north toward Möwe Bay. Capacity is limited and it fills fast over the Christmas-New Year window.

Access requires a Skeleton Coast Park permit purchased in advance from NWR — you cannot buy at the gate for this site. The road in from Ugabmund Gate is gravel and salt pan surface, manageable in a standard 4WD. No fuel. No phone signal. Bring everything you need and expect wind. Check NWR Namibia for current seasonal opening dates before you commit to this as a waypoint.
