Cañón de Cotahuasi — Sipia Falls Overlook
Sipia Falls drops roughly 150 meters into the Cotahuasi River gorge, and the viewpoint above it is one of the most dramatic spots along the entire canyon route. You’re standing on the rim of a canyon that punches deeper than Colca — walls of volcanic rock plunging thousands of meters toward a silver ribbon of river far below. The scale is disorienting in the best possible way. A short walk from the road gets you to the edge; no barriers, no crowds on most days, just raw Andean geology and the sound of moving water echoing up from the depths.
The access track from Cotahuasi town is rough dirt — passable to high-clearance 2WD in dry conditions, but 4WD is smarter given the ruts and loose sections on the canyon rim. Best visited May through October during the dry season; the rainy season (November–April) can render the approach sketchy and the falls even more violent. No services at the viewpoint itself — fuel and supplies in Cotahuasi before heading out.
World's deepest canyon — stand on the edge.
