Stigfossen Waterfall — Trollstigen Cascade Viewpoint

Point of Interest

Stigfossen drops 320 metres in a near-vertical plunge alongside the Trollstigen switchbacks, drenching the air with mist and turning every photo into a wet lens situation. The Norwegian Scenic Route viewing platform at the top of the pass sits directly above the falls and gives you a bird’s-eye look down the valley — eleven hairpin bends, the Rauma River gorge, and the falls all stacked in one frame. It’s the payoff for grinding up that road. Summer crowds are real: tour buses and campers pack the upper car park between 10am and 4pm, so arrive early or late.

The Trollstigen visitor centre at the summit is open June through October. Road is typically closed from October to May due to snow and avalanche risk — check Statens vegvesen real-time road status before you commit to the climb. No fee to view the falls; the platform and toilets are free.
