Resurrection Pass Trailhead Campground — Chugach National Forest

Sitting at the southern terminus of the Resurrection Pass Trail just outside Hope, this small USFS developed campground is ground zero for anyone running the full traverse to Cooper Landing. It’s a quiet, forested site in the Chugach with basic facilities — vault toilets, fire rings, and enough flat ground to stage rigs before heading up the pass. Expect a mix of hikers, horse packers, and overlanders. Mosquitoes are real in June and July. Black bears are in the area; run a bear canister or hang your food properly.

Access is via Resurrection Creek Road out of Hope — the last stretch is gravel but passable by any high-clearance rig. The site typically opens when snow clears the lower valley, usually May through September. No hookups, no showers, no cell signal worth mentioning. Pay the fee at the iron ranger on-site. This is your last flat ground before the trail climbs into the high country.
