Chugach National Forest — Resurrection Creek Road Upper Valley Dispersed Camp

This is legitimate national forest dispersed camping along Resurrection Creek Road north of Hope, Alaska. The valley floor opens up into gravel bars and spruce flats where overlanders routinely park before or after running the Resurrection Pass Trail. You’re in bear country — hang your food or use a canister, no exceptions. Expect solitude mid-week; weekends in July and August draw hikers heading up the pass. No developed facilities, no signage marking camp spots, and no fee. Campfire regulations apply — check current restrictions with Chugach National Forest before you light anything.

Access is via Resurrection Creek Road off the Hope Highway. Road surface is gravel and generally passable for high-clearance 2WD in dry conditions, though soft shoulders exist. Stay within the 300-foot buffer rule from waterways. Cell service is effectively nonexistent. Season runs roughly May through September; snow can linger into June at elevation.
