Terrace Bay Rest Camp — Skeleton Coast (NWR)

Terrace Bay sits on the cold Atlantic fringe of the Skeleton Coast, inside the southern zone of the park managed by Namibia Wildlife Resorts. It’s a proper NWR facility — bungalows, a small restaurant, ablutions with hot showers, and basic camping spots hard against the dune belt. The fishing is legendary; this camp exists largely because of the surf angling. Expect fog most mornings, jackals patrolling the perimeter at night, and the smell of cold ocean air over gravel flats. Not pretty in a postcard way — striking in a raw, end-of-the-world way.

Access is via the D2302 through the park interior — you need a valid Skeleton Coast Park permit purchased in advance through NWR Namibia. The gate at Ugabmund is the southern entry; Terrace Bay is roughly 110 km north on gravel. Self-sufficient fuel and water before entry. No fuel available inside the park. Reservations strongly recommended — beds and sites fill with anglers during peak season.
