El Questro Station Campground — Kimberley Gorge Country Basecamp
El Questro Station is a genuine end-of-the-Gibb reward. The main campground sits along the Pentecost River corridor, with powered and unpowered sites, a kiosk, bar, and access to Zebedee Springs thermal pools. It gets busy in peak dry season (May–September) — this is a well-known destination, not a secret. Book ahead. The vibe is more resort-adjacent than rough bush, but the gorge country surrounding it is world-class.
Access is via the Gibb River Road with a final crossing of the Pentecost River — check water levels before committing. The crossing can be impassable after rain. A station entry fee applies and covers most gorge walks. 4WD is strongly recommended; the Pentecost crossing alone will sort out the under-prepared.
End of the Gibb. Gorges, hot springs, cold beers.
