Camping Erfoud — N13 Gateway Campsite

Camping Erfoud is a long-running, fenced campsite on the edge of Erfoud town — the kind of place that’s been pulling overlanders off the N13 for decades. Flat gravel pitches under palm shade, basic toilet and shower blocks, and a communal washing area. It’s no-frills but functional: fuel, water, a cold Fanta, and a chance to talk to other rigs before committing to the piste south. The town itself is only a short walk for supplies, bread, and a hardware fix.

Erfoud is the last real town before the erg — stock up on water and fuel here. The campsite handles everything from motorbikes to fully loaded expedition trucks. Road south from Erfoud to Merzouga is sealed and straightforward in the dry season; check conditions after heavy rain as the lower Ziz floodplain can sheet-flood fast.
