County Donegal

Slieve League — Donegal Atlantic Sea Cliffs Viewpoint

Point of Interest

Slieve League on the southwest coast of County Donegal is the real deal — nearly 2,000-foot sea cliffs hammered by North Atlantic swells, with a ridgeline walk along the top that’ll sort out who’s serious. The upper car park at Bunglass gives you the main viewpoint without the hike, but the full ridge traverse to One Man’s Pass is one of Ireland’s great exposed walks. The landscape is wild, the light shifts constantly, and on a clear day you can see out to the Aran Islands.

Access is via a narrow, steep road from Teelin village — tight for anything wider than a standard pickup, with a couple of passing places that’ll get your heart rate up. The upper car park charges a small fee in season. Gets busy July through August; early morning or shoulder season is dramatically better. No services at the top.

Europe's highest sea cliffs, wild and unfiltered.
