Medicine Bow National Forest Laramie Peak Dispersed Sites
Scattered primitive sites along Forest Road 705 and its tributaries offer high-altitude camping at 8,000+ feet with sweeping views of the Laramie Basin below. Sites are rough pull-offs in mixed pine and aspen forest, some with established fire rings from decades of use by hunters and backpackers. Most accommodate 2-3 rigs comfortably. Snow lingers until late May and returns by October.
Access via rough gravel and dirt forest roads requiring high-clearance vehicles — 4WD recommended in wet conditions. No services, no trash pickup. Popular during hunting season (September-October) but virtually empty spring through summer. Fire restrictions common July-September.
