BLM Dinosaur National Monument Gates of Lodore Dispersed Area

This dispersed area sits on a bench overlooking the Gates of Lodore, where the Green River begins its dramatic plunge through Dinosaur’s canyon country. Sites are scattered along rough dirt roads with incredible views of the towering red cliffs. Zero amenities except for vault toilets at the boat launch — bring everything. Popular with river runners launching multi-day trips, so expect company during peak season.

Access via rough dirt roads that can be slick when wet. High-clearance recommended for the better sites away from the main area. Spring and fall are prime — summer gets brutally hot and winter brings snow that can strand you for days.
