Tyler State Park Back Ridge Fire Road Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

Hidden fire road cuts through Tyler State Park’s northern boundary, offering 8-10 informal sites along a wooded ridge. Mature oak and hickory provide decent shade, with scattered fire rings from years of use. Sites handle rigs up to 25 feet, though overgrowth keeps this place quiet even on busy weekends. No facilities — pack out everything.

Access via unmarked fire road 0.7 miles past main park entrance. Road surface is packed dirt with some washouts after heavy rain. Best April through October when vegetation isn’t blocking sight lines. Park officially closes at sunset, so this is technically overnight parking rather than camping.
