Wissahickon Creek Swimming Hole at Rex Avenue
Tucked into the Wissahickon gorge near the Rex Avenue bridge, this natural swimming hole offers surprisingly clear water and a small cascade over schist ledges. The main pool runs about 4 feet deep with sandy bottom, perfect for cooling off after exploring the technical creek-side trails. Stone slabs provide decent lounging spots.
Park at the Rex Avenue bridge and walk downstream about 200 yards. Gets crowded on summer weekends but weekdays stay mellow. Water levels drop in late summer but the pools usually hold enough for a dip. No facilities but it’s a 5-minute drive back to civilization.
