Sayan Mountains Gold Panner Camp
Crumbling concrete foundations and rusted equipment mark this former placer mining operation in the remote Sayan Mountains. Modern gold prospectors and overlanders use the cleared areas for camping, with the Oka River providing reliable water after filtration. Several terraced sites accommodate multiple rigs, sheltered by remnant equipment sheds.
Access requires following old mining roads with significant washouts and stream crossings. The site sees occasional use by modern prospectors who may share local beta about river conditions and route status. No facilities remain functional, but the location offers excellent fishing and total isolation.
Soviet mining ruins turned overlander dispersed camp.
