Valley of the Gods BLM Dispersed Area
This 17-mile dirt road cuts through classic Southwest scenery with scattered camping spots along the route. Red sandstone buttes and spires rise from the valley floor, creating a miniature Monument Valley experience. Camp anywhere that’s not signed closed, with the best spots offering solitude among the rock formations. Most sites are just pullouts with enough space for a couple rigs, though a few larger areas can handle groups. No facilities — pack out everything.
Access from either US-163 near Mexican Hat or UT-261 near Moki Dugway. The road is usually passable by high-clearance vehicles but can get muddy after rain. Popular with photographers chasing sunrise/sunset light on the buttes. Gets busy during peak season (March-May, September-November) but vast enough that you can usually find solitude. 14-day limit.
