Desert Nights Camp — Wahiba Sands Dune-Field Tented Camp
Desert Nights Camp sits out in the Wahiba (Sharqiya) Sands, reached from the Al Wasil side near Bidiyah. It’s a built camp: tented and hut-style sleeping, a communal dining area, and bathroom blocks, all set among rust-orange dunes. It’s not a bare-sand bivouac. It’s the place you pick when you want to cross the dunes, then eat a hot meal and sleep without sand in your teeth. Expect a mix of overlanders, tour groups, and the odd Land Cruiser convoy. It’s busiest in the cooler months, so book ahead and confirm what’s offered for your own rig and tent.
Access is through soft dune sand. Drop tyre pressures, go in with a recovery kit, and don’t go in alone in a lightly built rig. Tracks shift with the wind, so hold the line the camp staff give you or follow a local guide. Summer heat out here is brutal, so aim for October through April. Confirm current rates, camping policy, and access directly with the camp before you commit.
