Mineral Bottom — Green River Canyon Floor Dispersed Camping
Mineral Bottom sits on the Green River at the bottom of a long dirt road that drops off the mesa through steep switchbacks. Down on the flats you get cottonwoods, a wide muddy river, and canyon walls lit orange at sundown. It’s the same Green River country you look down on from the Shafer Trail, only from the bottom of the hole. Camping is dispersed BLM-style: pick a flat spot, keep your rig on already-disturbed ground, and pack out everything. It’s quiet most of the year. River trip shuttles and boaters use the landing, so expect company in prime season.
Access runs off Highway 313 north of Dead Horse Point via a graded dirt road that crosses the mesa, then descends the switchbacks. It’s passable for most high-clearance rigs when dry. The road turns slick and greasy after rain, and the descent is no place to be in a storm. There’s no water, no services, and little to no cell signal, so bring everything and carry your own waste system. Check current BLM Moab Field Office conditions, fire restrictions, and any permit requirements before you go. Heat in summer is brutal.
