Sun City Camp — Wadi Rum Protected Area
Sun City Camp is one of the better-known Bedouin-run camps in Wadi Rum. It sits out in the sandstone-and-granite country past Rum Village and offers a real bed, a hot meal and a tent roof when you don’t feel like pitching your own on sand. It’s a guest camp, not a self-serve campground. Expect traditional-style tents, dome or bubble-style tents, shared facilities and a Bedouin dinner cooked in the ground (zarb) if you book it. Sunsets and star fields out here are the draw. Spring and autumn are busiest. Summer is brutal.
Wadi Rum is a protected area run by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority. You buy an entry ticket at the Visitor Centre near Rum Village, and tracks inside are soft sand and easily confused. Most travelers work with a local Bedouin guide. Book ahead and confirm directions, pickup arrangements, whether you can bring your own rig and current rates directly with the camp. Camp spots shift and details change, so verify before you go. Have a dirty day.
