Bogan Flats Campground — Crystal River, Marble Valley

Established Campground

Bogan Flats sits in a cottonwood and spruce bench right beside the Crystal River in the White River National Forest, just down valley from Marble. If you’ve just come over Schofield Pass from Crested Butte, this is where you drop your rig and let the brakes cool. You get the sound of the river all night, a tight loop of numbered sites, and red-rock canyon walls overhead. It’s a developed forest service camp: vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables. Sites fill up on summer weekends, so book ahead or arrive early.

Access is on the paved Gunnison County/Pitkin County road between Redstone and Marble, so any vehicle gets in. Don’t count on cell signal in the Crystal Valley. The season runs roughly late spring through early fall, depending on snowpack and how the forest service is running it that year. Check current fees, site count, water availability, and reservation status with the White River National Forest or Recreation.gov before you roll in. Fill your tank and your water jugs in Carbondale or Redstone before you head up valley. Have a dirty day.
