Min Min Encounter — Boulia’s Outback Ghost Light Show
The Min Min Light is the outback’s best-known unexplained story. Stockmen, drovers and travellers have reported a pale light that floats over the flat country at night and follows or leads them, and Boulia is the town most tied to the legend. The Min Min Encounter is the town’s attraction built around it, on Herbert Street in the middle of Boulia. It’s a guided walk-through with animatronics and storytelling, set in a sheet-metal shed that looks like an outback building. It runs under an hour and works well as a break after the last stretch of Plenty Highway dirt.
You’ll roll in here at the Queensland end of the Plenty after hundreds of kilometres of gravel and cattle grids. Boulia has fuel, a pub, a caravan park and groceries, so you can resupply and tick the show off in one stop. Opening hours and ticket prices change, and the show may close in the hottest months or on odd days, so call ahead or check locally. The country around Boulia is flat and open, and dark nights out here will make you wonder.
Have a dirty day.
Chase the Min Min Light at the end of the Plenty.
