Yadis Ksar Ghilane — Oasis Tented Camp at the End of the Douz Piste

Ksar Ghilane is the only real oasis on the east edge of the Grand Erg Oriental, and this tented camp sits right in the palms near the Roman fort and the warm spring pool. After a few days of dune crossing, a bed, a hot shower, and a meal you didn’t cook yourself feel like luxury. Expect a tented-lodge setup with rooms and some camping space. It gets busy from October to April, when tour groups and quad outfits roll through. Summer is brutal, with daytime heat well past 40°C.

The piste in from Douz is sand and soft stuff, so run 4WD, drop your tire pressure, and carry spare fuel. Fuel and water in Ksar Ghilane are limited and tourist-priced. Services, camp space, and rates change, so call or message ahead to confirm pitch availability and prices before you commit. If the camp is full, the dune-edge wild camping nearby is the fallback.
