Emerald 4×4 sits at 1/13 Macaulay Road. It’s an independent, family-run outfit that has been at it since 2006, and it’s the one to know if you’re working through Queensland’s Central Highlands. They stock and fit ARB, TUFF, Old Man Emu, GME and Clearview gear: bullbars, suspension, snorkels, roof racks, towbars, long-range tanks, canopies and 12V systems. Their own site says they also look after drivers out of Moranbah, Blackwater, Springsure, Clermont and Alpha.

Fitment jobs book out, so call ahead if you want a lift or a bar fitted before you head west or south. If you only need a recovery strap, a compressor or a bit of 12V wiring, you can usually just roll in. Hours and stock change, so verify ahead on (07) 4987 4770. Roads out of town are bitumen. Once you leave it, plan your own spares and water.
