Thargomindah Caravan Park — Bulloo River Outback Town Campground

Established Campground

Thargomindah’s council-run caravan park sits right in town, next to the Bulloo River, and it’s the obvious base camp before or after running the Bulloo Overflow Channel Track toward Cunnamulla. Powered and unpowered sites, actual flushing toilets, showers, and a dump point — luxuries you won’t find anywhere else along this stretch of the Bulloo Developmental Road. The park fills up in the cooler months (April–September) when grey nomads and overlanders converge on Channel Country. Book ahead around the Outback Festival season.

Access is straightforward — sealed road into town. Stock up on fuel and supplies at the service station before heading out; the next reliable stop east is Cunnamulla, roughly 300 km away on rough dirt and gravel. Water from the park tap is safe. Cell signal is marginal — Telstra only, and even then it’s spotty. Have a dirty day.

Hot showers at the edge of nowhere.
