Guéréda Town Campground — Ennedi Sud Southern Terminus Basecamp
Guéréda sits at the southeastern end of the Piste de l’Ennedi Sud, making it the logical bookend camp for anyone running the route from Fada south through the Mourdi Depression. This is not a developed campground in any Western sense — it’s a flat, compacted dirt area near the town center and humanitarian mission compound where overlanders have historically stopped, refueled, and slept under guard. Capacity is effectively unlimited; it’s a gravel lot. Expect zero facilities unless the mission is actively hosting NGOs, in which case water may be available on request. Security is real here — Guéréda sits close to the Sudan border in a historically volatile region. Register with local authorities on arrival.
Access from Fada is roughly 330 km of hard desert piste — reg flats, wadi crossings, and soft sand. A support vehicle is non-negotiable. Dry season only (November–March). Fuel in Guéréda is available in jerry cans from local traders but verify quantities before departing Fada. Cell signal is essentially nonexistent between the two towns.
Southern Ennedi terminus — sleep, report in, move on.
