Forêt de Vizzavona — Col de Vizzavona Roadside Dispersed Camp
Vizzavona is the backbone of Corsica’s high interior — Laricio pines pushing 40 metres, granite boulders scattered through the undergrowth, and the smell of resin so thick you’ll notice it when you kill the engine. Dispersed pulling-off is possible on the ONF-managed forest tracks threading off the N193 near the col at around 1160m. It’s not signed and it’s not formalised — you’re finding a flat spot in the trees and being respectful. Busy in July and August with GR20 walkers camping nearby at the gîte, so shoulder season (May–June, September–October) is the move. No facilities, pack out everything.
Access from the N193 Ajaccio–Corte highway — paved to the col, then ONF pistes are dirt and can be soft after rain. High-clearance helps on the side tracks. Fire restrictions are strict inside the parc naturel boundary — check ONF rules before lighting anything. Water from the Vizzavona stream but treat it.
Pine-scented high-country pullout, Corsican spine.
