Tonopah, NV — Station House Campground (Mizpah Hotel Overflow / BLM Adjacent)
Tonopah sits at 6,030 feet in the heart of Nevada’s high desert, and this established campground on the north edge of town is the logical staging point before dropping south on the Nevada BDR. Sites are gravel-leveled with hookups, and the adjacent motel means hot showers exist if you need them. Town is a genuine resupply: grocery, fuel, hardware, and the Mizpah Bar for a cold one. It gets busy during the Tonopah Stargazing Festival but is usually quiet otherwise. Fire ring use follows county burn restrictions — check before you spark.
Access is paved right into town off US-95, so any rig can roll in. Cell signal is decent for Tonopah — use it to download offline maps before you head south into the dead zones. Elevation makes late-fall nights genuinely cold; bring extra insulation if you’re running this in October.
BDR south kickoff — shower, fuel, then go.
