Third Bridge Campsite — Moremi Game Reserve

Third Bridge sits on a narrow palm island in the heart of Moremi Game Reserve, surrounded by papyrus channels and mopane woodland. It’s a DWNP-operated public campsite with basic facilities — pit latrines, a few braai stands, no electricity, no fencing. Lions walk through camp. Elephants demolish trees at the waterline. At night it’s raw delta Africa. Sites are numbered but the fencing is absent by design, so keep food locked tight and sleep light. Capacity is limited and it fills fast during dry season (May–October) when game concentrates around the permanent water.

Access is via the Moremi North Gate road, crossing two vehicle bridges over channels before the third — the namesake crossing. That bridge itself is narrow and slippery when wet. High-clearance 4WD is mandatory; the tracks flood seasonally and get genuinely deep sand between crossings. Book through the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) or DWNP online portal. Don’t show up without a reservation in peak season.
