The Pinnacles (Nambung National Park)

The Pinnacles are a field of limestone formations — some barely knee-high, others topping out near 3.5 metres — scattered across the golden sand of Nambung National Park, roughly 200km north of Perth. You drive a one-way loop through the middle of them at sunset and it genuinely looks like another planet. Busy with day-trippers year-round, but hit it at first light or dusk on a weekday and you’ll nearly have it to yourself. The visitor centre has clean toilets and some interpretive gear worth a quick look.

The sealed loop road through the formations is accessible to any vehicle. Entry fee applies per car — pay at the automated machine at the gate. No camping inside the park at the Pinnacles themselves; Cervantes is your base, about 17km west. Best season is May through October when the wildflowers are firing and the heat backs off.
