Innes National Park — Pondalowie Bay Campground

Established Campground

Pondalowie Bay is the go-to camp at the tip of Yorke Peninsula inside Innes National Park, South Australia. You’re literally sleeping on the edge of the Southern Ocean — limestone cliffs, kelp beds, and surf breaks right out the front. It’s a proper surf and 4WD camp: gravel loops, pit toilets, basic facilities, and a vibe that’s part fishing shack, part wild coast. Busy during South Australian school holidays, so plan accordingly. Campfires are subject to SA fire bans — check ahead.

Access into the park from Stenhouse Bay is sealed but the campground tracks are soft sand and gravel — high-clearance recommended, 4WD helpful in softer sections near the beach. Book through the SA National Parks booking system; peak periods fill weeks in advance. No fuel inside the park — Maitland or Warooka are your last stops.

Southern Ocean at your tent door.
