Bittangabee Campground

Bittangabee sits inside Ben Boyd National Park, about as far southeast as you can push in NSW before you hit the Tasman Sea. It’s a proper coastal camp — grassy sites under eucalypts, a sheltered bay for fishing or kayaking, and the crumbled stone ruins of a 19th-century lime burner operation right in camp. The vibe is quiet and unhurried. Pit toilets on site, but no drinking water, so tank up in Eden or Wonboyn before you roll in. Busy during summer school holidays — if you’re hitting it December through January, book ahead through the NSW National Parks system.

Access is via Green Cape Road from Eden — unsealed but generally fine for high-clearance 2WD and most touring setups. Occasional soft sand near the bay, nothing aggressive. The road washes out after heavy rain, so check conditions before you commit. Fires are permitted in the provided rings subject to seasonal fire bans — always check the NPWS fire ban status before you light up.
