Casey Station Australian Antarctic Base

Casey Station is the largest and most active of Australia’s three permanent Antarctic stations, located on the Windmill Islands of the Knox Coast in East Antarctica. The station runs year-round and supports science, logistics, and emergency operations for the region. Fuel, medical facilities, communications, workshop capability, and equipment resupply are all on-site. The Australian Antarctic Division coordinates all access and supply runs via voyage out of Hobart, Tasmania, or by occasional air operations to the station’s skiway.

Like all Antarctic stations, access requires formal approval through the Australian Antarctic Division — this is not a drop-in resupply. Summer population runs around 70–120 personnel. The station has a well-documented operational history and is one of the most self-sufficient logistics points in the East Antarctic. Verify voyage schedules and access requirements well ahead of any planned expedition through Antarctica.
